Jungmin Lee

We live in a time in which cultural transformation happens very quickly on a global scale. Transportation increasingly facilitates global interchange and opens the door to other cultures. People are also much more likely to leave their own environment when they feel attracted to a different one. The changing of environments impacts individuals in numerous ways.

Jungmin Lee is interested in the effects of globalisation on the stability of cultural symbols. Superimposing and merging images such as the coniferous greenery abundant in Dutch gardens and the tulip, now intertwined with Dutch culture but native to North African and Eurasian countries, Jungmin visually reconstructs cultural assimilation.
